EXPRESSING AGREEMENT AND DISAGREEMENT

Expressing Agreement and Disagreement (ungkapan tentang setuju dan tidak setuju) adalah cara kita meminta persetujuan dan pertidaksetujuan atau dengan kata lain kita mengekpresikannya dalam bahsa inggris.

Ada banyak kalimat yangdapat kita gunakan untuk menyatakan setuju atau tidak setuju,berikut contoh dari agreement dan disagreement : 
A.Agreement (ungkapan setuju)
·         I agree (saya setuju)
·         I agree with you (saya setuju dengan anda)
·         That's so true (benar sekali)
·         Exactly (tepat sekali)
·         I am with you (saya sependapat dengan anda)
·         No doubt about it (tidak ada keraguan mengenai hal itu) 
B.Disagreement (ungkapan tidak setuju)
·         I don't think so (saya rasa tidak..)
·         I totally disagree (saya sangat tidak setuju)
·         That's not always true (itu tak selalu benar)
·         Not necessarily (itu tidak penting)
·         I beg to differ (saya ingin berpendapat berbeda)
·         No,I'm not sure about that (tidak,saya tidak yakin dengan hal itu)
Ungkapan lain untuk disagreement :
·         I don’t entirely agree with …….
·         I see what you mean, but ……
·         I agree, but ……
·         Yes, but on the other hand …… ·          
·         Yes, but don’t you think …       
Interruptions  :

·         Can I add something here?
·         Is it okay if I jump in for a second?

     Expressing Opinion adalah Mengungkapkan Pendapat. 

Expressing opinions:

Example Dialog:

Syarifah   : Hey Yati ! Do you know the hot news in our school ?
Yati          : Yes, I know. About the minimum score, isn’t it ?
Syarifah   : Yes, exactly. What do you think ?
Yati          : I think it so high. I believe that is bad idea.
Syarifah   : I don’t think so. Precisely with the 80 score, we can’t get that score.
Yati          : Yes, I know it. But, for everyday it so hard.
Syarifah   : Maybe, it can be the pole for us to be better than yesterday. I hope we can do it. Although it so hard.
Yati          : Ok. Amin.

Alice: What did you think of the movie, Peter?
Peter: I think it was boring.
Alice: Really? I loved it. Why did you think it was boring?
Peter: It was too predictable. You knew what would happen in the end.
           The same old thing- boy meets girl, boy fights with girl, boy marries girl.
Peter: Did you like the sound track of the movie?
Alice: No, I hated it. It was too loud and too hard rock for me. What did you
  think of it?
Peter: I thought it was great, but then, I like hard rock.

Certainty adalah suatu keadaan, dimana kita benar-benar percaya atau tidak meragukan sama sekali tentang sesuatu. Sedangkan,Uncertainty adalah kebalikannya.

Ketika kita yakin bahwa sesuatu akan terjadi atau tidak akan terjadi, kita bisa menggunakan ungkapan - ungkapan sebagai berikut:

Peter : Are you sure air pollution is more dangerous for children?
Jim : Yes, I'm quite sure. It causes illnesses for them.
Anne : Are you sure all the garbage is easy to destroy?
Marry : No, I'm sure that the garbage like plastics are difficult to destroy

Dialogue 2
Rini: Rina, are you sure Sani will come? We have been waiting for her for more than 2 hours
Rina: Don’t worry Rini, I’m sure)* she will come soon. Yesterday she promised to come.
Rini: I can’t say that for sure)** she will come.

Giving and responding to compliments (Memberi dan menanggapi suatu pujian)
    Giving complimentsComments intended response to the work of someone whose only objective was to describe or explain the work of the person. The work referred to here is the work of information, including news, stories, articles, speeches, issues, and so on.
To comment on the issue is not only the origin. Comments can only be delivered if the full information obtained from this problem. Not only that, comments can be submitted only when a logical reason to have a taste or in reason.
If seen from the way penyampainnya, comments were divided two kinds, namely verbal comments and comments in writing. Examples of written comments is often seen on the internet. On the internet media works someone who can not do comments, either orally, in writing only. Later examples of verbal commentary that is often seen is on campus. Students comment on what the faculty, students commented that the group made a presentation to the class, and so on.
How to respond to existing problems procedures. Comments made politely so as not to offend the people who commented. Feedback or comments are also presented logically and with good reason.
If the views of its kind, the kind of divided into 3 types of comments, such as:
     Praise, praise is something the recognition of one's advantage or benefit of a work.Praise is an appreciation of the worshipers who is credited for his work. Usually this is followed by a word of praise, incredible, wow, etc.

     

     Saran, Saran is the opinion of one of the works created by someone. Provide suggestions on the proposed suggestion of someone who should be considered or reconsidered. Usually followed by the words must, must, etc.

GIVING COMPLIMENTS    Everyone likes to hear compliments. Compliments make people feel good about themselves, and we all need that at times. Hotel guests and staff are no exceptions. Guests may give hotel staff compliments for the quality of their service, for their English ability, for their appearance in an unique uniform, or for doing something a little extra for the guest.A hotel staff may give a guest a compliment about how they look in a newly purchased outfit, or for their patience when a problem arises, or for a beautiful new hair style after visiting a beauty parlor. Giving Invitations dan Bargaining

1.Giving Invitation

“Giving Invitation” yaitu ekspresi yang biasa digunakan dalam bahasa Inggris ketika kita ingin “mengajak”/ kalimat-kalimat ajakan.

1) Words and expressions used in giving an invitation.
Would you like a dance with me?
- Do you want eating out with me?
- Would you come to my place for dinner tonight, please?
- Would you mind coming over on Saturday night?

2. Words and expressions used in responding and invitation.a) accepting an invitation (menerima ajakan)
- with pleaseure

b) Refusing an invitation (menolak ajakan)

2.BARGAINING

"Bargaining" adalah jenis negosiasi di mana pembeli dan penjual barang atau jasa sengketa harga yang akan dibayar dan sifat yang tepat dari transaksi yang akan berlangsung, dan akhirnya mencapai kesepakatan.

Answer the following question orally:
—Do you like to go shopping?
—Where do you usually go shopping?
—When do you usually go to shopping?
—What do you usually buy?
—How do you pay for the purchase?
—Do you ever use a credit card?
Now, practice expressions used in bergaining / shopping :
—Is there any discount?
—What about Rp. 50.000,- for each book?
—Can you make it for $ 1 ?
—What  about 20% off?
—How about Rp. 10.000,- per kilogram?
—Etc.
